Johnes Disease & Ruminants

Contagious, chronic, and often fatal, Johnes Disease is a bacterial infection that spreads stealthily throughout herds of ruminants such as cattle, sheep, and goats. Animals can be infected for years before presenting symptoms, which allows the disease to spread. There is no treatment for infected animals, which lose the ability to absorb nutrients. Sick animals must be removed from the herd. Learn more.
