AHI Congratulates Dr. Tim Schell on Appointment as Director of Center for Veterinary Medicine.

AHI President and CEO Martha Scott Poindexter made the following statement regarding today’s Food and Drug Administration announcement of the appointment of a new director of the Center for Veterinary Medicine:

I am excited to congratulate Dr. Tim Schell on being named Director of the Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM), and thank FDA Commissioner Marty Makary for moving to fill this critical position.  Dr. Schell is committed to improvements in the drug approval process to spur innovation and ensure farmers, ranchers, pet owners and veterinarians have the tools needed to protect animal health.

The animal health industry relies on CVM to enable our companies to bring safe and effective medicines to market to protect animal health and public health.  I look forward to working with Dr. Schell and his team to make the United States the best market in the world for the development and review of innovative animal health products.
