AHI Welcomes Callahan Nomination as Chief Ag Negotiator
The Animal Health Institute welcomes President Trump’s nomination of Julie Callahan to be the Chief Agricultural Negotiator for the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR).
“The President could not have found anyone better qualified for this important trade role than Julie Callahan,” said AHI President and CEO Martha Scott Poindexter. “Dr. Callahan has been a fighter for both American agriculture in general and animal health specifically. During this key time in international trade she will work to ensure U.S. agriculture and animal health can continue to prosper and innovate. We urge the Senate to act swiftly on this nomination.”
Callahan is currently Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Agricultural Affairs and Commodity Policy. She has previously served at both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
